The Revolution Has Already Started: PlayStation Blackout Begins
We are sick of watching publishers take control away from the people who built their businesses in the first place. And now, players are fighting back.
Today, the PSBlackout begins.
From August 23 through August 30, players are being called on to shut down their PlayStation consoles, stay off PSN, and spend nothing on PlayStation. This is not a server outage. It is not a technical failure.
Sony plans to end production of physical PlayStation game discs in January 2028. We reject the future Sony is building: a locked ecosystem where corporations control the platform, the store, the license and the servers.
This Is Part Of Stop Killing Games
Gamers have had enough. We are organizing. We are speaking up. And we are learning to use the one thing corporations cannot ignore: our collective power.
Sony may believe its players will simply accept it.
The blackout is the players taking back their power. It tells the industry that the people buying the games, consoles and subscriptions are not an endless resource to be harvested.
We are the customers. We are the reason this industry exists.
And when the industry treats the players who built it like they don’t matter, we have one answer left:
BELONGS TO THE PLAYERS.
