Players’ Voice — Submission FAQ
Players’ Voice exists to give gamers a place to speak for themselves. If you have something worth saying about gaming, we want to hear it.
Who can submit to Players’ Voice?
Anyone can submit. You don’t need to be a journalist, professional writer, content creator or industry insider. Players’ Voice is for gamers.
You can submit under your real name or choose a display name. The name you provide will be used as your author name if your submission is published.
What can I submit?
You can submit an opinion, article, review, commentary, personal perspective, information or another piece of writing related to gaming.
Players’ Voice is intended for original contributions from the gaming community, so make sure your submission is your own work or that you have the necessary rights to submit it.
What happens after I submit?
Every submission is reviewed by the Player 1 editorial team before publication.
We may decide to publish a submission, request changes, edit it for clarity and presentation, or decline to publish it. Submitting an article does not guarantee publication.
Will my submission be edited?
Your submission may receive editorial and visual formatting before publication.
Player 1 will format your submission so that it fits the visual style of the site. This can include applying Player 1’s formatting to headings, quotes, lists, links, spacing and other elements.
We may also correct obvious spelling or grammar errors and make minor changes necessary for clarity, formatting or publication.
We will not rewrite your submission into the Player 1 editorial voice. Your argument, perspective and personal voice remain yours.
The goal is simple: your words, presented in the Player 1 style.
Will my name be published?
Yes. If your submission is published, it will appear under the display name you provide when submitting it.
Your email address is never published as part of the submission.
Why do you need my email address?
Your email address is used to process your submission and, where necessary, communicate with you about it.
It is not displayed publicly with your article.
Can I include links?
Yes. The submission form allows you to provide website or social-media links.
Links may be reviewed as part of the editorial process. Please only submit links and material that you are legally entitled to share, and consider whether anything you post could create legal issues for you or Player 1.
Can I submit images?
Yes. You can optionally provide a featured image with your submission.
Only submit images that you have the right to use. By submitting an image, you confirm that you have the necessary rights or permission for us to use it.
Player 1 may choose whether or not to use an image supplied with a submission.
If you do not provide an image, Player 1 will use a preset Players’ Voice thumbnail for the submission.
Does submitting something mean it will be published?
No.
Players’ Voice is editorially curated. Every submission is reviewed, and Player 1 decides what is appropriate for publication.
We may reject a submission without publishing it.
Can I submit someone else’s work?
No. Please only submit work that you created yourself or that you have explicit permission to submit and publish.
Do not copy articles, reviews, images, artwork, or other material from someone else and submit it as your own. If you are submitting material created by someone else with their permission, make that clear when submitting it.
You are responsible for ensuring that the material you submit does not infringe someone else’s copyright or other rights.
Is Players’ Voice the same as a Player 1 editorial article?
No.
Player 1 editorial articles represent the publication’s own editorial voice. Players’ Voice exists specifically to provide space for contributions from the community.
A Players’ Voice article is identified as such.
What happens if my submission is accepted?
If your submission is accepted for publication, the Player 1 editorial team will prepare it for publication and assign it to the appropriate Players’ Voice category.
Your chosen display name will appear as the author, and your contribution will be published publicly on the Player 1 website as part of Players’ Voice.
What should I keep in mind before submitting?
Make sure your submission is your own work, your claims are made in good faith, and any images or other material you provide can legally be used.
Most importantly, say something worth saying.
Players’ Voice exists because players have been shut out of the conversation for far too long.
